Build Stages

A new home electrical installation runs across multiple stages of the build. We coordinate with your builder and other trades to be on site when needed, and we plan the work so that nothing is missed at each stage.

Slab and Underground

Before the concrete slab is poured, we install all underground conduits for the electrical supply, external lighting, garden lighting, gate and garage connections, and any in-slab heating cable. This has to be done at the right time and in the right position because once the slab is poured, changes are extremely difficult.

Rough-In

After the frame is up and before the plasterboard goes on, we run all the cable throughout the house. This includes every lighting circuit, power point circuit, dedicated appliance circuits, data cabling, TV antenna points, smoke alarm wiring, smart home infrastructure, and any other low-voltage systems. Positions for switches, power points, and light fittings are set during this stage.

Fit-Off

Once plastering, painting, and flooring are complete, we return to install all the final fittings. Power points, light switches, downlights, pendants, exhaust fans, rangehood connections, oven and cooktop hardwiring, ceiling fans, and the switchboard are all fitted, connected, and tested.

Connection and Certification

The final step is connecting the property to the electricity supply and issuing the certificate of electrical safety. This certificate is a mandatory document required for occupancy. We test every circuit, verify earth fault loop impedance, confirm RCD operation, and ensure the entire installation meets AS/NZS 3000.

What Sets Us Apart

Plan Review

Before anything is installed, we review your electrical plans and walk through the layout with you. We check that power point positions, switch locations, and lighting plans actually work for how you will use each room. Changes at the plan stage cost nothing; changes after the plasterboard is up are expensive.

Future-Ready Wiring

We plan the installation with future needs in mind. EV charger conduits, solar provisions, spare switchboard capacity, and additional data runs are far simpler and cheaper to include during the build than to retrofit later.

Clean Workmanship

Our rough-in work is clipped, labelled, and installed to a standard that makes the plastering and inspection stages straightforward. Clean cable runs, properly secured, and clearly identified at the switchboard. This is visible quality that lasts the life of the home.

New Home Wiring FAQs

When should I engage the electrician on a new build?

As early as possible. Ideally during the design and planning phase so we can review the electrical plans, suggest improvements, and plan the slab-stage work. Engaging early avoids costly changes later and ensures the electrical layout is right the first time.

How many power points does a new home need?

There is no fixed rule, but more is almost always better. We walk through each room with you and plan power point locations based on furniture layouts, appliance positions, and how you use the space. Bedrooms, living areas, and home offices all have different requirements.

Should I pre-wire for solar even if I am not installing it now?

Yes. Running a conduit from the roof space to the switchboard location during the build costs very little and saves significant time and expense when you do install solar later. The same applies to EV charger conduits to the garage.

Do you work with owner-builders?

Yes. We work with builders of all types, including owner-builders managing their own project. We coordinate directly with the other trades on site and keep you informed of when we need access at each stage.
